4.7.19

Biannual dentist trip for the girls. Nora's first time getting checked and Indie's first time getting x-rays. Nora was a little unsure but they both did wonderfully. They came home with some gear to practice dentist on me.

I treasure our one-on-one time while Nora naps.

Mom spoiled the girls at Build-a-Bear

Cousin time with Grandma

Mom took Indie on a date to Home Depot's kid workshop. She had a blast painting and building a birdhouse.

For general conference this year I tried prepping a snack and activity for each new speaker. It took more of my help than I was hoping so I didn't get to catch much, but I hope they will grow to learn the importance of conference and love it as much as I.

Tammy got tickets to the Sunday afternoon session and they were AMAZING!

Tired Nora girl

4.14.19

Dad took us to Kangaroo Zoo while he was in town and we were bummed that they replaced many of the fun activities with arcade games. It took a while for Nora to warm up but she finally would go down the slides with me.

My favorite girls

Indie was excited to bring SK to the museum with us.

SK was so sweet to help Indie make slime. I am dreading this discovery for the cleanliness of the house, but Indie thought this was cool.

Annual Keller Williams Easter party. We went to a new location this year that didn't have as many cool activities, but the girls loved playing on the playground, getting their faces painted, eating hot dogs, the egg hunt, and of course eating the treats.

We were all happy that we were ready for church early and all looking presentable. That does not happen often with Adam being gone all morning with his calling.

4.21.19

Cuddles with my girl

The primary had a special activity for Easter where they talked about the Resurrection intermingled with a little game. The girls had fun but it lost them early on. I enjoy watching them learn from teachers and other kids, though. Following this, they had a candy cannon. The big kids are so fast they beat the girls to most of the candy but they didn't seem to be bothered.

Lee's and Ace's had a little walk through where the girls walked around the store and got some goodies. They thought this was awesome. I wanted to ensure they were gracious since this is not a normal thing in life ha.

There was also a big bunny that Indie thought was her best friend (per usual), but Nora wouldn't go near.

See-food

Bedhead

That night we had our annual family Easter hunt. Lew and Jo's family insisted on coming so they could see the girls hunt for eggs. I hope the girls always know how greatly loved they are.

The girls' buckets got so busy it was tipping them over. They are headstrong and insisted on holding them for a while until they finally gave in- realizing they can hunt much faster without that weight.

Robin egg traditions

Jo's chair stuck to her when she stood up ha

The Stoddard girls brought our girls some matching dresses. They thought this was pretty great.

Nora keeps falling asleep with her legs in the holes in her crib so she wakes up stuck and so very said.

Poses for Easter- I have been especially grateful in recent years when thinking of Heavenly Father's plan for us. Indie being legally blind in one eye and me recently tearing my ACL and my meniscus have been hard and will be continual struggles the remainder of our Earthly lives. How wonderful that we can be resurrected with perfect bodies. I know we will be busy with the Lord's errands, but I hope we may enjoy all the things that we couldn't because of our physical limitations on Earth.

4.28.19

We love enjoying the beautiful weather.

This girl must be my daughter with how much she loves books.

Sexy outfit for my MRI

Snuggles

Grandpa Brent sent the girls a card and a little money for Easter. We had the girls save half and let them spend the rest. Deciding what to spend their money on was very hard for them. Indie bought a container of fairies and is LOVING them. She had the "kiddos" line up for "school".

Potato bugs and a treat to finish up the night.

Breakfast at our favorite place (Jeremiah's in Ogden).

My friend, "Pamnar", is turning 50 and put together the Pamnar (like Ragnar). I was going to run in it, but cannot with my knee injury so I met them at an exchange to say hi and cheer them on. This was heartbreaking for me to not be running, but it was fun briefly catching up with some of these old coworkers of mine. The girls enjoyed some M&M's and the park.

Adam and I had a fancy event at Little America so Mom and Rex watched the girls. Rex and Nora were ahead of Mom and Indie on a walk when Nora got some bubbles in her eye. All she wanted was Indie so Rex brought Nora to her. Mom sent me these pics of Nora telling Indie how she hurt her eye and Indie giving her loves. Indie is typically not very lovey on Nora so my heart was touched and very proud that she was such a great big sister in this moment.

It was fun to get gussied up and have a night out with my honey. There was a silent auction at the event so we looked at all of the items and dreamed of being in the financial position that many others are in to bid. One day we will get there, but for now we make the most and enjoy the less luxurious but still blessed life we live.

November 2018

Crazy hair

We haven't been to Colorado for a while so we took the chance with some cheap flights to visit Dad. This was Indie's first time on an airplane as a big girl. We kept busy with snacks and a bunch of activities I made ahead of time. The girls did quite well.

We did a lot of hanging out, waiting for Dad to finish up work but we got out one day to the park. The wind made it so cold that Nora just froze, not moving much, but Indie didn't care too much.

SK brought a cute Frozen paint set for them to do. Indie loves hanging out with her.

Nora loved the keyboard and play horse.

The aquarium. There was even a mermaid that swam around- Indie was dazzled.

Nora trying to give loves to Dory. Not quite the same as her stuffed animal at home.

While Dad was busy working, we drove out to the Wild Animal Sanctuary. It is a non-profit organization that rescues animals and brings them here to live out their lives- animals like wolves, bears, panthers, camel, etc. There is a walkway 30 feet in the air that runs by the animals' enclosures; this way, the animals do not feel threatened by all of the visitors.

Many of the animals were sleeping, and it was quite cold, but we still enjoyed watching the animals undisturbed.

We enjoyed some hot chocolate to help warm us up.

By the end, Nora was tired and ready to go since she didn't really get a morning nap.

The plane had troubles after we boarded so a 1.5 hour flight turned into 2.5 hours and way past their bedtime so we were all antsy to get home.

The girls love yogurt.

Indie was so excited for her first day of preschool, which I was as well but also so sad that she is growing so quickly and able to do much more without me. She loved meeting new friends.

Adventure to the library. They have games and toys that you can play so we did that, and of course looked at some books.

Stealing my food...it's okay because they're cute.

For date night we tried going to an escape room, but it was full so we walked around some crazy festival at the Gateway and found this cool sign.

Indie so wants to be in primary and stand in the programs with them, so we let her stand by us and sing.

Fun at Mom and Rexy's.

Scouting locations for Roberts' family photos.

Our adrenaline junkie.

Keeping busy waiting for a prescription.

Adam loves Christmas music so I got him tickets to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for his birthday. We loved their classic songs, but they lost us with a set of hard rock songs. They had some cool special effects like fire and 30 feet arms that the musicians would stand on and go straight in the air.

Indie wanted a picture with Diane's scarecrows.

Keeping ourselves entertained at Alisha's for Thanksgiving. We hung out while she finished cooking, stuffed ourselves silly, played a couple games while the girls napped, the boys went shooting and the kids had a little scavenger hunt outside. Indie wanted to do the hunt but quickly was over finding things on the list and wanted to do her own thing.

Kangaroo Zoo. Indie mostly love the big slide and doing somersaults off the obstacles on some of the inflatables. Nora had fun exploring.

We quickly got set up for Christmas after Thanksgiving. Adam is pro at fluffing the tree.

The tradition of the towel over the shoulder lives on.

Dance night. Nora kept squatting and both of the girls did somersaults. They have no hope with their genetics.

12.24.17 Patching & Christmas Celebrations

At the opthamalogist's suggestion, Indie began patching this week. Not knowing what the patch was, she sat still for me to put the patch on but after expressed "I can't see vewwy (very) wehw (well)." and my heart broke. She was a trooper, though, and left it on for a couple hours. Other parents have mentioned that in their experience with patching their kids, letting them watch tv for a little while greatly helped the child's attitude. We tried her favorite show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Typically she will watch a whole episode, but it kept her attention for about 2 minutes. Up to this point we knew her right eye's vision was really bad, but we didn't know exactly how bad. Now we know she at least can't see the tv (a 60" 15 ft. away). We tried reading books since she loves that, but she had to hold the books a few inches from her eye. She doesn't know you unless she hears your voice. I pray that this affliction never bothers her as much as it bothers my heart.

The one up side of Nora waking up at about 6:30 is having company as I get ready for work. She is in a good mood for the first 15 minutes or so and jabbers away.

Apparently I say "5 more minutes" often, because as Indie was playing with her letters and I told her we had to clean up soon, she replied, "5 more minutes".

As Christmas is with Adam's family this year, we got together with my family for an early celebration. We were craving our favorite sushi (Tony's in Layton) so we ate there, deciding we should start a new Christmas tradition doing this. Indie loves the beans (edamame) and insists "I do it mysehwf" (getting the beans out). I think half of them make it to her mouth with the other half all over the place.

Following dinner, we opened presents at our place. Quite fitting, Uncle Tyler gave Indie a play sushi set which she LOVED. Grandpa Rex used to dress up for Santa gigs, so he has a really nice costume. We thought it would be fun to have our very own Santa visit from him. Thinking Indie would merely be a little nervous, I opened the door with her when Santa knocked, but she ran screaming and crying to Grammie's arms. I felt horribly but tried to help her warm up by giving Santa a hug, but she was not having it and terrified the whole time. As we continued opening presents, Nora just loved chewing anything she could get her hands on and Indie loved opening presents, thinking they were all for her. Nora got this adorable elephant from Tyler.

Christmas Eve was on Sunday, so we just had sacrament meeting combined with some other wards. I can't say I mind short church with 2 little ones.

With the Jones and Roberts families getting large, Adam's family decided to do their own Christmas Eve party. We had dinner, played games, and had a white elephant gift exchange. I gave a bowl of items commemorating the Robert's famous family councils. Brittany got it and didn't get the humor but everyone else liked it. Adam gave a fart coloring and a favorite child ribbon, which fittingly, Mikkele got.

3.11.18 Literacy Night and St. George

Now that the girls are going to Diane's while I'm working, they come home with all sorts of yummy food and treats (she spoils us). This time we got some yummy cupcakes Indie helped make.

Grammie's school had a literacy night we got to go to. Each grade had decorations and an activity based on different books/themes. One was making headbands with Goldilocks' or one of the bears' faces. You colored and cut out the face then glued it to a headband. Indie loved coloring for a minute then found the scissors and just wanted to cut. This girl loves crafting! We could not get her away from that. She didn't care about the headband, though.

She also got to make a wand so Adam and I taught her spells like "Bibidibobidi-boo" and "Abracadabra".

They had hot dogs for dinner; Indie had a bite or two then mostly just wanted the bun.

Grammie had some sweet sunglasses Indie got to keep.

For Christmas, Diane gave Adam and I a certificate for a weekend at Snowbird and she would watch the girls. When we were planning our trip we had hardly no snow this winter so we decided to go to St. George instead. Adam let me drag him mountain biking but was quickly regretting it [I think] when this "Beginner-Intermediate" trail proved well beyond our ability with lots of sand to slide out in and steep hillsides with big rocks, and not clear so we had to guess our way around. We were probably off our bikes more than on. We made the best out of it, though, and enjoyed this cool tunnel and indentations in the rocks.

That night we went to Casablanca in Mesquite for their seafood buffet with Uncle Dave and his family. We enjoy it because the crab legs are already cut open for us. Adam and I got there early so we killed some time walking around the resort and being disgustingly love-y like newlyweds.

I dusted off my golf clubs and went golfing at Coral Canyon. Adam gave me some tips and I did okay  teeing off and putting for the first half then got bored but we continued along all 18. I did more ball finding while Adam heated up most of the back 9. The course was quite backed up so I kept busy doing some Indie moves while we waited.

That afternoon we worked off our sore bums for another mtn. bike session. Adam was a trooper through sore legs. This trail, More Cowbell, was neat as it rode around the red cliffs and we could look out over the valley. Near the end it has a cowbell you have to hit as you ride by.

I've heard about a number of great eateries in St. George, so we indulged with refreshing Swig, Cravings cookies, and Benja Thai and Sushi. Once we couldn't stuff ourselves anymore we soaked our tired bodies in the hot tub.

Meanwhile, the girls had fun with Grandma. The local library has yoga and story time Indie loves going to.

They went to the Home & Garden show. Indie sat on this riding lawn mower saying, "I help Bubba Ehwin".

At the park, Indie did some angels in the sand (I think she was doing it like snow angels).

3.25.18 Big Girl Bed

My cousin Sariah had her mission homecoming talk and party after, where I saw Grandma Yearsley for the first time in a LONG time. She had our Christmas presents so I saved them to open for family night. Indie got a book (one of her great loves), and Nora got a stuffed bear but only cared about the tag (one of her great loves right now). So funny how much this girl is into tags.

We finally got some warm(ish) sunny weather when we had some free time, so we got out to enjoy the rays. Poor Nora is still not completely sitting steadily and tipped over on the concrete. She actually barely bumped in but got this scrape. It didn't phase her but I felt so badly.

Nora LOVES baths. It appears she has about outgrown her little tub.

Our basement is unfinished and just storage right now, but I would like to clear up at least half to keep large toys and have an area we can run around in bad weather. Indie and I went down to clean up and of course she found some tampons. Not sure why, but she has always loved playing with them.

I try to get a few minutes one-on-one with each girl while the other is napping (on my days off). These moments are so special for me, and I hope for them as well.

We had a big step this week. Indie got a big girl bed (and room). I found this floor bed idea on Pinterest a while ago so Adam built it, but we've been waiting for a good time to move it in and shop for bedding, decor, etc. She had a "sleepy party" at Grammie's house so we had some time to move it in and shop till we dropped for accessories. Because of my picky style and frugal mentality, this is as far as we got. We were nervous to see what she thought and how she would do. When we showed her, she was thrown off because she and Nora switched rooms, but immediately climbed on the bed. She hadn't had a nap today, thus very tired, but she went to bed easily and barely moved until 7:30 AM! We will see how she does when she's not so tired. Nora has been sleeping in a Pack N Play until we got the bed situation settled, so she is finally in an actual crib. She also did wonderfully in her new bed/room.

Grammie and Indie watched Aristocats and for some reason Indie picked up a certain "walk like geese". She swings her hips and moves her arms side to side with her hands flexed out. Everyone laughs when she does it.

3.18.18 Nora Update, Work Trip, Dentist and City Creek

As to be expected, I am late on Nora's monthly update. Baby girl turned 7 months last week. She likes to be sitting (which she can't do alone for long) or standing. Nora is getting better at and liking solids more and also sleeping better at night (woohoo!). She typically wakes once for binkie and once to eat. She rolls over from back to tummy quite often but hates being on her tummy and can't roll back over very well.

  • Loves seeing herself in the mirror and being thrown in the air
  • Very ticklish (just like her sister)
  • Has to be held 90% of the time
  • Does the cutest growl when I pick her up from daycare/Grandma's
  • Just moved to 9 month clothes because she's too tall for 6 month clothes
Indie LOVES princess dresses (have I said that before). First thing she does when she gets to Grandma's is put on a dress and has it on until we make her take it off to leave.

Naptime essentials for Indie: princess pillow, this blankie, and at least one stuffed toy.

My heart melts at the love these two have for each other

I had to take a day trip to Las Vegas for work to help with a tradeshow. This was my first time using Uber and it took a little figuring out and nervousness as I had to rush from the airport to the show, but I got it down. Dad is down there often for work and I knew he had said not long ago that he had a work trip there coming up so I texted him and lo and behold we were flying out around the same time. Because security took so long for him, he had to run to my terminal because I had to board my plane soon. How sweet it was he did that to give me a hug and only see me for 5 minutes. Adam was fabulous and played the single working dad part today. They went out to dinner, because that's what dad's do best :) I think one of Indie's faves: "Chicky-fil-a"

Having not seen Indie much this week with work, she (and I) was needing some mommy-daughter time. This girl loves to cook and is getting better at helping every time. She now can take off and put the lid on the mixing bowl by herself (most every time). We made one of our favorites: chocolate chip cookies. She might have learned sneaking food in the kitchen from me. This time was my green smoothie. Not sure why, but she always likes my food better, even if it's the same thing I gave her.

We missed each other as well. Smiles and chat sessions to catch up with this one while her sister napped.

Indie had her first dentist appointment! We have a few books about going to the dentist that we've read leading up to this so she wouldn't be scared. She was excited for this train table and tv while we waited. The dentist called us back to a 4-chair room decorated like a forest where there were toothbrushes Indie could choose from. She couldn't decide between a Hello Kitty one and a purple one with sea creatures, so the dentist let her have both. Indie got to pick which chair, each with a stuffed animal, she wanted to sit on. She picked a chair with the alligator. The dentist showed her the different tools and how they work, and let Indie hold them. She was tentative but curious with all of this. Next she got on the chair and the dentist would have Indie help do the same thing to the alligator's teeth that she would do to Indie's teeth. One of these steps was counting her teeth; she has 16. Another was brushing her teeth. Indie wasn't sure about this but still sat back and white-knuckled the chair as the dentist worked. Between each step, Indie thought we were done and would go to hop down but sat back when realizing we weren't done. Finally the end came, though and she got to pick a prize (bubbles). So proud of our brave little girl in this scary new step in life.

Indie has gotten more into drawing and did this beautiful piece for me.

Yet another measurement session, this time adding (L-R) Luca Johnson (6 months), Zayne Jennings (5 months), and Christian Taylor (4 months). They were all little grabby hands with each other and moving all over...I'm amazed we got some decent snapshots!

It was a little cold but we wanted to get out so we took the girls to City Creek. This was their first time exploring around. We thought Indie would love the stream with fish through the mall, but wasn't as impressed as we thought at first, but eventually shouted about the fish. Next we walked over the bridge and wanted to get a cute picture of the girls, but our little stinker Indie would not quit moving. Not sure where she gets her teasing from HA.

12.31.17 Christmas, Aquarium and New Year

Adam got our Christmas Jammies online and needless to say, the bear didn't quite look the same in person.

Christmas was so fun this year with Indie as she finally understands presents and the excitement. Grammie and Grandpa Rex came over to celebrate with us. To be expected, Indie loved opening presents but was so excited and wanted to just stop and play with whatever she opened/touched.

Indie was silly trying to walk around in the stockings.

After presents at our house, we went to Grandpa Jones' for the annual Waffle Brunch, followed by Diane/Randy's. I led some of the kiddos in a workout and Ronnie kicked my butt.

Nora loves playing with plastic bags; I think she loves the sound.

We enjoyed our time off with a trip to Seaquest Aquarium with the Jennings. Indie loves her Minnie Mouse Halloween costume so we are getting our money's worth. At one point she tripped and got a bloody nose and split lip. Blood Everywhere! She came and sat on my lap for a few minutes; you know she is really sad when she sits on your lap. We finally got the bleeding stopped and she was off. Indie loved splashing her hands in the water for the stingray and shark tanks, and stomping around with a projected floor game.

Zayne was blessed so we went over to the Jennings' after for their brunch and compared the babies born close together. Nora is showing her age now being two months senior, but we will see as they get older.

We usually throw a New Year's Eve party, but with Nora not sleeping well I was a bump on the log not wanting to be up that late. Still wanting to celebrate a little, our neighborhood group put the kiddos to bed and went back to the Jennings to pound some good food and play some games. They ended up convincing me to stay until midnight. As the kids say, "YOLO".
