At the opthamalogist's suggestion, Indie began patching this week. Not knowing what the patch was, she sat still for me to put the patch on but after expressed "I can't see vewwy (very) wehw (well)." and my heart broke. She was a trooper, though, and left it on for a couple hours. Other parents have mentioned that in their experience with patching their kids, letting them watch tv for a little while greatly helped the child's attitude. We tried her favorite show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Typically she will watch a whole episode, but it kept her attention for about 2 minutes. Up to this point we knew her right eye's vision was really bad, but we didn't know exactly how bad. Now we know she at least can't see the tv (a 60" 15 ft. away). We tried reading books since she loves that, but she had to hold the books a few inches from her eye. She doesn't know you unless she hears your voice. I pray that this affliction never bothers her as much as it bothers my heart.
The one up side of Nora waking up at about 6:30 is having company as I get ready for work. She is in a good mood for the first 15 minutes or so and jabbers away.
Apparently I say "5 more minutes" often, because as Indie was playing with her letters and I told her we had to clean up soon, she replied, "5 more minutes".
As Christmas is with Adam's family this year, we got together with my family for an early celebration. We were craving our favorite sushi (Tony's in Layton) so we ate there, deciding we should start a new Christmas tradition doing this. Indie loves the beans (edamame) and insists "I do it mysehwf" (getting the beans out). I think half of them make it to her mouth with the other half all over the place.
Following dinner, we opened presents at our place. Quite fitting, Uncle Tyler gave Indie a play sushi set which she LOVED. Grandpa Rex used to dress up for Santa gigs, so he has a really nice costume. We thought it would be fun to have our very own Santa visit from him. Thinking Indie would merely be a little nervous, I opened the door with her when Santa knocked, but she ran screaming and crying to Grammie's arms. I felt horribly but tried to help her warm up by giving Santa a hug, but she was not having it and terrified the whole time. As we continued opening presents, Nora just loved chewing anything she could get her hands on and Indie loved opening presents, thinking they were all for her. Nora got this adorable elephant from Tyler.
Christmas Eve was on Sunday, so we just had sacrament meeting combined with some other wards. I can't say I mind short church with 2 little ones.
With the Jones and Roberts families getting large, Adam's family decided to do their own Christmas Eve party. We had dinner, played games, and had a white elephant gift exchange. I gave a bowl of items commemorating the Robert's famous family councils. Brittany got it and didn't get the humor but everyone else liked it. Adam gave a fart coloring and a favorite child ribbon, which fittingly, Mikkele got.

3.11.18 Literacy Night and St. George
Now that the girls are going to Diane's while I'm working, they come home with all sorts of yummy food and treats (she spoils us). This time we got some yummy cupcakes Indie helped make.
Grammie's school had a literacy night we got to go to. Each grade had decorations and an activity based on different books/themes. One was making headbands with Goldilocks' or one of the bears' faces. You colored and cut out the face then glued it to a headband. Indie loved coloring for a minute then found the scissors and just wanted to cut. This girl loves crafting! We could not get her away from that. She didn't care about the headband, though.
She also got to make a wand so Adam and I taught her spells like "Bibidibobidi-boo" and "Abracadabra".
They had hot dogs for dinner; Indie had a bite or two then mostly just wanted the bun.
Grammie had some sweet sunglasses Indie got to keep.
For Christmas, Diane gave Adam and I a certificate for a weekend at Snowbird and she would watch the girls. When we were planning our trip we had hardly no snow this winter so we decided to go to St. George instead. Adam let me drag him mountain biking but was quickly regretting it [I think] when this "Beginner-Intermediate" trail proved well beyond our ability with lots of sand to slide out in and steep hillsides with big rocks, and not clear so we had to guess our way around. We were probably off our bikes more than on. We made the best out of it, though, and enjoyed this cool tunnel and indentations in the rocks.
That night we went to Casablanca in Mesquite for their seafood buffet with Uncle Dave and his family. We enjoy it because the crab legs are already cut open for us. Adam and I got there early so we killed some time walking around the resort and being disgustingly love-y like newlyweds.
I dusted off my golf clubs and went golfing at Coral Canyon. Adam gave me some tips and I did okay teeing off and putting for the first half then got bored but we continued along all 18. I did more ball finding while Adam heated up most of the back 9. The course was quite backed up so I kept busy doing some Indie moves while we waited.
That afternoon we worked off our sore bums for another mtn. bike session. Adam was a trooper through sore legs. This trail, More Cowbell, was neat as it rode around the red cliffs and we could look out over the valley. Near the end it has a cowbell you have to hit as you ride by.
I've heard about a number of great eateries in St. George, so we indulged with refreshing Swig, Cravings cookies, and Benja Thai and Sushi. Once we couldn't stuff ourselves anymore we soaked our tired bodies in the hot tub.
Meanwhile, the girls had fun with Grandma. The local library has yoga and story time Indie loves going to.
They went to the Home & Garden show. Indie sat on this riding lawn mower saying, "I help Bubba Ehwin".
At the park, Indie did some angels in the sand (I think she was doing it like snow angels).

3.25.18 Big Girl Bed
My cousin Sariah had her mission homecoming talk and party after, where I saw Grandma Yearsley for the first time in a LONG time. She had our Christmas presents so I saved them to open for family night. Indie got a book (one of her great loves), and Nora got a stuffed bear but only cared about the tag (one of her great loves right now). So funny how much this girl is into tags.
We finally got some warm(ish) sunny weather when we had some free time, so we got out to enjoy the rays. Poor Nora is still not completely sitting steadily and tipped over on the concrete. She actually barely bumped in but got this scrape. It didn't phase her but I felt so badly.
Nora LOVES baths. It appears she has about outgrown her little tub.
Our basement is unfinished and just storage right now, but I would like to clear up at least half to keep large toys and have an area we can run around in bad weather. Indie and I went down to clean up and of course she found some tampons. Not sure why, but she has always loved playing with them.
I try to get a few minutes one-on-one with each girl while the other is napping (on my days off). These moments are so special for me, and I hope for them as well.
We had a big step this week. Indie got a big girl bed (and room). I found this floor bed idea on Pinterest a while ago so Adam built it, but we've been waiting for a good time to move it in and shop for bedding, decor, etc. She had a "sleepy party" at Grammie's house so we had some time to move it in and shop till we dropped for accessories. Because of my picky style and frugal mentality, this is as far as we got. We were nervous to see what she thought and how she would do. When we showed her, she was thrown off because she and Nora switched rooms, but immediately climbed on the bed. She hadn't had a nap today, thus very tired, but she went to bed easily and barely moved until 7:30 AM! We will see how she does when she's not so tired. Nora has been sleeping in a Pack N Play until we got the bed situation settled, so she is finally in an actual crib. She also did wonderfully in her new bed/room.
Grammie and Indie watched Aristocats and for some reason Indie picked up a certain "walk like geese". She swings her hips and moves her arms side to side with her hands flexed out. Everyone laughs when she does it.

3.18.18 Nora Update, Work Trip, Dentist and City Creek
As to be expected, I am late on Nora's monthly update. Baby girl turned 7 months last week. She likes to be sitting (which she can't do alone for long) or standing. Nora is getting better at and liking solids more and also sleeping better at night (woohoo!). She typically wakes once for binkie and once to eat. She rolls over from back to tummy quite often but hates being on her tummy and can't roll back over very well.
March 18, 2018
- Loves seeing herself in the mirror and being thrown in the air
- Very ticklish (just like her sister)
- Has to be held 90% of the time
- Does the cutest growl when I pick her up from daycare/Grandma's
- Just moved to 9 month clothes because she's too tall for 6 month clothes
Indie LOVES princess dresses (have I said that before). First thing she does when she gets to Grandma's is put on a dress and has it on until we make her take it off to leave.
Naptime essentials for Indie: princess pillow, this blankie, and at least one stuffed toy.
My heart melts at the love these two have for each other
I had to take a day trip to Las Vegas for work to help with a tradeshow. This was my first time using Uber and it took a little figuring out and nervousness as I had to rush from the airport to the show, but I got it down. Dad is down there often for work and I knew he had said not long ago that he had a work trip there coming up so I texted him and lo and behold we were flying out around the same time. Because security took so long for him, he had to run to my terminal because I had to board my plane soon. How sweet it was he did that to give me a hug and only see me for 5 minutes. Adam was fabulous and played the single working dad part today. They went out to dinner, because that's what dad's do best :) I think one of Indie's faves: "Chicky-fil-a"
Having not seen Indie much this week with work, she (and I) was needing some mommy-daughter time. This girl loves to cook and is getting better at helping every time. She now can take off and put the lid on the mixing bowl by herself (most every time). We made one of our favorites: chocolate chip cookies. She might have learned sneaking food in the kitchen from me. This time was my green smoothie. Not sure why, but she always likes my food better, even if it's the same thing I gave her.
We missed each other as well. Smiles and chat sessions to catch up with this one while her sister napped.
Indie had her first dentist appointment! We have a few books about going to the dentist that we've read leading up to this so she wouldn't be scared. She was excited for this train table and tv while we waited. The dentist called us back to a 4-chair room decorated like a forest where there were toothbrushes Indie could choose from. She couldn't decide between a Hello Kitty one and a purple one with sea creatures, so the dentist let her have both. Indie got to pick which chair, each with a stuffed animal, she wanted to sit on. She picked a chair with the alligator. The dentist showed her the different tools and how they work, and let Indie hold them. She was tentative but curious with all of this. Next she got on the chair and the dentist would have Indie help do the same thing to the alligator's teeth that she would do to Indie's teeth. One of these steps was counting her teeth; she has 16. Another was brushing her teeth. Indie wasn't sure about this but still sat back and white-knuckled the chair as the dentist worked. Between each step, Indie thought we were done and would go to hop down but sat back when realizing we weren't done. Finally the end came, though and she got to pick a prize (bubbles). So proud of our brave little girl in this scary new step in life.
Indie has gotten more into drawing and did this beautiful piece for me.
Yet another measurement session, this time adding (L-R) Luca Johnson (6 months), Zayne Jennings (5 months), and Christian Taylor (4 months). They were all little grabby hands with each other and moving all over...I'm amazed we got some decent snapshots!
It was a little cold but we wanted to get out so we took the girls to City Creek. This was their first time exploring around. We thought Indie would love the stream with fish through the mall, but wasn't as impressed as we thought at first, but eventually shouted about the fish. Next we walked over the bridge and wanted to get a cute picture of the girls, but our little stinker Indie would not quit moving. Not sure where she gets her teasing from HA.

12.31.17 Christmas, Aquarium and New Year
Adam got our Christmas Jammies online and needless to say, the bear didn't quite look the same in person.
Christmas was so fun this year with Indie as she finally understands presents and the excitement. Grammie and Grandpa Rex came over to celebrate with us. To be expected, Indie loved opening presents but was so excited and wanted to just stop and play with whatever she opened/touched.
Indie was silly trying to walk around in the stockings.
Present highlights:
After presents at our house, we went to Grandpa Jones' for the annual Waffle Brunch, followed by Diane/Randy's. I led some of the kiddos in a workout and Ronnie kicked my butt.
Nora loves playing with plastic bags; I think she loves the sound.
We enjoyed our time off with a trip to Seaquest Aquarium with the Jennings. Indie loves her Minnie Mouse Halloween costume so we are getting our money's worth. At one point she tripped and got a bloody nose and split lip. Blood Everywhere! She came and sat on my lap for a few minutes; you know she is really sad when she sits on your lap. We finally got the bleeding stopped and she was off. Indie loved splashing her hands in the water for the stingray and shark tanks, and stomping around with a projected floor game.
Zayne was blessed so we went over to the Jennings' after for their brunch and compared the babies born close together. Nora is showing her age now being two months senior, but we will see as they get older.
We usually throw a New Year's Eve party, but with Nora not sleeping well I was a bump on the log not wanting to be up that late. Still wanting to celebrate a little, our neighborhood group put the kiddos to bed and went back to the Jennings to pound some good food and play some games. They ended up convincing me to stay until midnight. As the kids say, "YOLO".

1.7.18 Swimming, Dancing, and Gingerbread House Decorating
Welcome 2018! I ran 8 miles to celebrate. Love the beautiful place we live.
Anytime we mentioned swimming, Indie won't stop talking about it till we go. We enjoyed Adam's holiday time off and went to the South Davis Rec Center. They have a 3 story tall swirly slide that I was going to drag Indie on after she got settled at the pool, but she volunteered before I even said anything. She dragged me up the stairs and shouted and signed "More" as soon as we surfaced after arriving at the bottom. We went 5 times before she was done. You go girl! At the rec center, they also have this climbing wall that she calls "Rock Pool" and has to do every time. She is starting to climb off the floor all by herself!
Love this sweet face. I think my favorite is when she is stretching.
My buddies while I get ready for work. Indie always wants to hold Nora's hand. So sweet.
A favorite snack: apples and peanut butter.
I could make a whole video just of Indie dancing and wish I could put clips in here. This dance she tucked her chin to her chest, swung her arms by her side and shuffled her legs. It was funny forwards but even better backwards. *Sidenote: she has the best bedhead. I wish I could have gotten her head, but she has done this dance move for several months. It's her go to when told to bust a move and always wants people to watch. I think she picked it up from a breakdancer on So You Think You Can Dance.
Better late than never, we decorate our gingerbread house. Indie learned from Mommy how to snitch the candy and there was not much decorating after that. Then she was mad when we put the candy away when we were done and wanted to take a picture so she sulked on the couch. Good job photo bombing though, sis!
Indie has gotten more and more into "rough-housing" the last several months. She loves 1-2-3's with daddy.

1.14.18 Nora is 5 months
Nora turned 5 months last week! Your smiles are somewhat rare but typically come when mom is in your face talking to you. you "laughing" screeches brighten mom's day. Mom loves when you're her little buddy hanging with her while getting ready for work. You finally dropped the 12ish wake upbeat still wake up at about 2:30, 4:30, and 6 when we have to wrestle you if we want you to sleep more.
January 14, 2018
- Eat about every 2.5 hrs with 4 oz. at a time.
- Cut off from nursing because you are way better at the bottle
- Push up with arms when on belly (which you mostly hate)
- Drooling like a leaky faucet but no teeth in sight
Never pictured myself with daughters but good thing Heavenly Father knows best. Oh how I love these girls!
Love these morning smiles
We are so lucky to live right by the Legacy Trail. I love running over these boardwalks
Adam discovered a pill called "Magic Berries" that makes everything taste sweeter for about 20 minutes after taking it, but especially citrus. Mind-blowing!
Blessed with the best grandparents
I wish we could include video, but here's a screenshot of Indie dancing to the music on the piano. She makes us laugh every day.
Nora's first solids- a little rice cereal. Kept opening for more! *Sidenote: could you die with those eyes?!

1.21.18 Fire and Jaryn's Birthday
Already good friends
Indie's new way of eating blueberries is to hold them in her hand and suck them out. This cute kid cracks us up.
Indie is seeming too old with this hair.
We all have been enjoying this freakishly warm weather to enjoy Daddy's new fire pit and a good Kirkland All Beef Dog.
Indie's friend, Jaryn had a Mario and Luigi party for his 4th birthday. Indie always gets pushed around, but still loves just being around other kids regardless of age. We got Nora in on the fun with a mustached and measuring up with her friends (Christian, 3 months younger and Zayne, 2 months younger).
Indie gets so excited to play in the new snow. Mommy gets excited to do anything outside, especially enjoying the new backyard.

3.4.18 Wishing for More Time*
One of Indie's sayings lately is "Take a pic-chuh". We went to Costco and she most have known I was loving this cute scene when she wanted me to a picture.
In the last week, Nora has been rolling over a bit more but still getting that bottom arm stuck. She is also sitting up quite well, unless she is on an uneven surface or gets too far back.
Nora caught a cold this week and wasn't napping well so Mommy caved and held her one day for a while- soaking in the views of this sweet face as time slips through my fingers. Also savoring all of these sloppy, open mouth kisses.
Indie can be so sweet and helpful. This highlights are helping mommy put Nora's clean diaper on (sorry for the nudity) and squeezes for Mommy.
Mommy's little shadow picks up E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. Today she grabbed my bottles and explained, "Need to pump so bad".
Nora has always woken up about 3-4 times every night, the last couple months eating once. This week she has gone 3 nights only waking 1-2 nights. Crossing our fingers she is turning a corner and we can come back to life with some decent sleep.
Soaking in these rare moments when Nora falls asleep on me. She mostly has to be rocked/in her crib to sleep now.
As Nora's balance is getting better she has been able to get in on the fun more.
Adam and I both grew up on yummy cinnamon rolls so we enjoy when I make them occasionally. Mom taught Indie to put her hands out and exclaim "delicious".

1.28.18 FHE and more
Indie's newest trick
We have been trying to be better about weekly FHE. It's usually only a few minutes but in the late evening so Nora wasn't having it this time. Tonight we talked about how we are children of a Heavenly Father and learned about our spirit's with the classic glove object lesson. I'm sure much of what we teach is over Indie's head, but hopefully whatever we do or talk about will soak in eventually and the little girls will learn and feel of our testimonies.
I taught Boom Chick a Boom to Indie thinking she wouldn't really get it, but she never ceases to amaze me and picked it up pretty well. We did different styles like this one, "Granny Style". No surprise that Indie loved it!
A favorite pasttime of Indie and Mommy's is car dancing. Miss thang has all the best moves.
Jessie found this company called And She's Dope Too (ASDT) that promotes outdoor adventure while ditching the comparisons and competitions. ASDT started semi-annual, all-female retreats a few years ago, which I went to and have been friends with the leadership pretty much since then. This week was their annual film fest so I took mom this week. It was great spending time with her, seeing some ASDT friends, and rekindling that adventure flame that is hard to stoke with two littles.
We taught Indie how to put her jacket on herself a little while back and she loves performing this trick.
Indie was a little sick so to prevent spreading her cold to all the other little kids, we stayed home. It can be hard to keep Indie entertained at home, so we busted out the paints. She loves anything artistic so she was enthralled with this for quite some time. We also got out for a little walk and to the park. Indie is getting much better and braver at maneuvering the playground.
Nora didn't used to like baths but is finally starting to really like them.
Monthly Robert's family dinner was tonight. The little girls love Cooper and he loves them back.

2.4.18 Adventures
Wearing the patch is so hard for Indie; she can barely see out of her right eye so she is usually [understandably] grumpy when patching. We try to distract as best as possible- this time she found a box to hide in.
Mommy has always loved getting out on adventures but is trying to get the girls out more for them- it's not always easy with two littles or the most responsible thing but something she wants to pass on and Indie loves. These "uhvenchuhs" as Indie calls them can be anything from exploring nature to getting a treat. This week's adventures included a hike and donuts.
It has been nice weather so we've been getting out as much as possible. Mommy bundles up the little girls and the usually do well [if they are full and not tired] in the stroller while Mommy jogs. We sing songs, learn new words and sights, and Indie has lots of snacks.
The girls went on a short hike on the mountain in North Salt Lake. We pointed out the mountains across the valley that Bubba Aaron lives past. Indie loved jumping off all of the rocks, big and [really] small. She slid down the grassy hill, navigated under trees, and Mommy began Indie's trail running training. Nora did pretty well for the first 20 minutes or so but then was fussy. Mommy is hoping we can break her into it so we can get out more.
We found a spudnut shop in Logan a while back called Johnny O's that was pretty good, but they opened a new location in Layton that we have been dying to try. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed it but prefer our homemade ones better. Indie will never say no.
Indie girl is getting so old we can finally do French braids...with some bribing to sit still...or as still as possible for an energetic 2 yr old.

2.11.18 Boat Show and Olympics
We kept the boat show tradition alive but got there a little late so we didn't get to see much. Probably just as well because you can only wrangle two littles for so long. Indie loved climbing into each boat, crawling to the front, then onto the next. Indie said this was her seat; it looks extremely comfortable. Mommy had her eye on this white with sparkly gold trim Super Air Nautique from their new GS line. It's a hybrid where they took the front of their ski boats and the back of their wakeboard/surf boats so you get the best of both worlds. Another feature [on most other new boats as well] is a new pipe that pushes the exhaust down in the water so you're not breathing in those fumes when being towed. Genius!
Grandma talked Mommy into a bike race in June, so she figured she should probably get the tush warmed up to the bike seat and took the girls out for a ride. This was Nora's first time in the bike trailer and lasted about 2.5 miles until she was DONE; this made for a long ride back for us all :( Indie has her tunes and snacks and she is pretty good once we are going.
Mommy slacked again with pictures, but the Olympics started this week so we went over to Grammie and Grandpa Rex's house for a little Opening Ceremonies viewing party with Lew's family and Tyler. Had lots of good food, of course, and didn't see much of the event [not a surprise with two littles]. It was still fun though to get in the spirit and hang with everyone.
Mommy caught the horrid flew bug over the weekend and was pretty well laid up Saturday and Sunday. Daddy was amazing and entertained the little girls and even got them all ready and to church so Mommy could rest. She was going stir crazy by the end of Sunday so we snuck out for a walk. Indie has started to run for a bit and says "Run like Mickehw" (Mommy's running buddy Mickele, whom we actually haven't ran with for months).

2.18.18 Valentine's Celebrations and Treehouse Museum
Nora made the half year mark last week. Mommy is slow with monthly pictures and Nora just had her checkup this week so here we are. STATS:
This girl cracks me up. Apparently two spoons is better than one. Also documenting how much she loves Mac & Cheese.
Adam was originally supposed to work on Valentine's Day, but was just getting over the flu so he took the day off and how wonderful it was to spend the day as a family. Indie and Mommy ran to the store to get some donuts (this is becoming a regular thing for special days). Of course Indie picked out one with sprinkles. Indie had her eye checkup and did SO WELL! The doctor didn't see much/if any improvements from patching, but said she is still so young it is worth continuing. She got a little turtle as a prize for going to the doctor and it's her newest prized possession.
Daddy took us on an "uh-venture" afterwards to Liberty Park after the eye appointment. Mommy taught Indie how to call to peacocks with one that was walking next-door at Tracy Aviary. Indie picked it right up :) We saw the ducks and geese and walked around the pond.
Miss Nora is getting better at holding her bottle! Soon enough she will be feeding herself.
Grammie had the day off so the girls went on another adventure- this time to the treehouse museum in Ogden. Indie was so excited to play dress up, but quickly got interested in everything else there. They had little areas for different places around the world; this one was a little yurt from Mongolia so Indie pretended to take a nap. Indie LOVED taking care of the babies in the nursery. Grammie and Mommy were scratching our heads as to why the babies don't have bottoms. One of Indie's favorite things was a little grocery store where you could pretend stocking shelves, ringing up customers, shopping, and buying groceries. Another favorite was a little craft table. She kept running back here whenever she could. Finally, there was a little wind tunnel Indie could put a feather in for it to blow up to the top. She exclaimed, "WOW!" every time.
For a little Valentine's celebration, Adam and Jessie went to Mikado with some other couples.
Grammie slept over since we were gone late with our date so we made a fun day while she was here. Indie wanted to ride in the car with Nora, who did surprisingly well. How fun it is to see Indie loving to play with her sister. Later, we went swimming. Indie wanted to do the 3-story slide again so Mommy and she went 3 times before she got comfortable and insisted she go with Grammie. They went a couple more times before Indie was done.
Last but not least was the mystery Valentine's dinner (need to come up with good name for this). Grammie started this when Jessie and Tyler were little and it continues on, but this year Tyler and Adam took a stab at being in charge. They themed the dinner with skewers; everything came on or required skewers to eat. Jessie pinch hit the menu, which the boys developed all in Turkish (except Hot Fuschia). They changed it up not using silverware, which I'm sure Grammie Great loved. Indie kept picking her nose and gave herself a bleeder.

- Weight: 15 lbs 1 oz. (25th percentile)
- Length: 26.5 in. (75th percentile)
- Head: 16.8 in. (50th percentile)
Noisy nora sprouted her two front bottom teeth a couple of weeks ago, is soooo close to rolling over regularly (that darn arm gets in the way), loves her bouncer, is doing much better holding things, and straightaway getting them in her mouth and loves her sister. Still waking up 3ish times per night- eating one of those times and often times requiring we had her for at least an hour before going back down one of those times. Wondering if we will ever sleep decently on a regular basis again. She makes sure you know loud and clear when she's not happy (hence the nickname above and "Screech"). BUT the jabber and snuggles this one gives are usually worth the noise and sleep deprivation ;)
